I noticed the attachment option, but could not see how to translate that from just a link in the message, to an actual image.

You don't have to do anything special; it gets done automatically and will appear at the bottom of your message if you just attach it.

However, after attaching an image there will be a button beside it which lets you place it "inline" in the message. Doing so lets you put it somewhere other than the bottom of the message and also makes the page layout a bit better, especially if the image is wide.

Updated original post with new v10 layout. Nothing much to look at considering I've just made minor tweaks to the v10 default toolbars by adding my most commonly used buttons replacing the "Operations" toolbar... and otherwise got rid of my old olive green coloring in favor of v10 default colors.
