I have some RAR files with files inside them that have KANJI. I have the UTF version of Dopus 8, and it works fine the Kanji files, it just seems that the RAR plugin does not support Kanji.
Are there any plans to fix this?

Forum member Nosh made a Unicode version of the RAR VFS plugin that you can grab from here:

Other people seem to have had success with it.
I believe Opus 9 will ship with a Unicode version of the plugin as well.

Thanks, I did a search for Kanji, but didn't find anything. Guess I should have searched for Unicode.

On a related note, WinRAR seems to have issues with non-latin file names when being used with Opus.
Find a file with Japanese script in the file name and right click it. The WinRAR context menu replaces all non-Latin characters with underscores, and uses that managled file name with the "Extract to (filename)" option.

Does that work okay in Explorer?
It works OK in explorer.
Can you attach a small example RAR file that demonstrates the WinRAR context menu problem?

I noticed another problematic behaviour with Opus and the IME. Presumably because Opus spawns new threads for things, you often find the IME resets itself the to the defaut mode.
For example, try switching to a non-default mode (in my case, Japanese). I do an in-line rename of a file, using the IME to enter Japanese script. If I then launch a rename dialogue on the same file, the IME defaults back to English for that dialogue.
Just in case you were not aware, the IME is supposed to work on a per application basis. So, if Firefox is set to enter Japanese script and I open up Notepad, Notepad will default to English. If I then change Notepad to Chinese input and switch to Firefox, Firefox will still be in Japanese input mode.

Ah... looks like you can't attach Unicode file name files to this forum without the names being managled. To replicate, you will need to have the Japanese IME installed and rename the file yourself, or alternatively download a Japanese RAR archive off the net. I'll see if I can find one.
You could rar the rar so the filename is preserved.

Can I ask, Nosh, what language do you have your OS set to? If set to Japanese, it works OK, naturually.
It's set to german.
But there was a misunderstanding, I get the underscores at the context menu also. The extracted files and directories have no underscores. The windows explorer also shows underscores at context menu. Or do you mean that the IME changes the behaviour of windows explorer?
From the screenshot I see, that your WinRAR is also the english version and not the japanese.
So what's the different, that your windows explorer doesn't show underscores?
Try extracting a RAR file with a Japanese file name to a folder. The files inside extract OK, but the folder created with have underscores for the non-Latin characters. Just like in the screenshot I posted.
