Since I've updated to version 12.22 when I double click a file in a folder, the program says the file is not there. If I go into Windows Explorer, this does not happen. It really caused me concern as I thought I'd lost my files.
A lot of people have been having strange issues caused by Windows Defender lately. If you're using that, it might be blocking access to the file (or the whole folder the file is in) and causing the problem. It doesn't always tell you when it does this, making things look like they aren't working when it's the cause.
Defender whitelists Explorer by default but blocks a lot of other software arbitrarily and without telling you, because that's how Microsoft are.
If you're using Defender, whitelist dopus.exe (and docsvw32.exe and docsvw64.exe) in all the different parts of Defender: Virus scanner, protected folders, privacy guard, etc.)
Yes, I'm using Defender. However, interestingly double clicking a Word doc works fine, the files giving me problems are Adobe InDesign files (.indd). I can also open pdf's in the same directory. Kind of odd...
It could still be Defender, reacting to the file contents, but it may also come down to how InDesign has registered its file types.
