Lister state OFF?

Hi all,
I'm slightly confused about my lister states. When the option File Displays -> Options -> Single display Listers have source/destination modes is on, I have three types of Single Listers: source, destination and off. That's fine.

But if I turn that option off, shouldn't the Single Listers all be off? The always look like source, though they don't have an assigned destination Lister.

Is this a misunderstanding and the off mode doesn't exist in this configuration - or have I misconfigured something?

State is largely meaningless when that option is off. Every single-display window will be designated source, but since there are no destinations (except in dual display windows) it doesn’t mean anything. It just looks better that way.
