Lite directory opus

I was wondering if there could be a 'lite' version of Directory Opus for us non-geeks, with basic functions that are still better than Microsoft and with the opportunity to get the full version for a special price. If you will consider this proposal, please let me know and then I will give some thought on what is essential. It may even be good to ask your subscribers.

There used to be one, but most people still bought Pro (or bought Light and then soon upgraded to Pro), so we dropped it with Opus 13.

Don't you already have a license?

Yes.

Maintaining two versions is not good. Technically they used your licence to block parts that you were not allowed to use. But that still meant they had to add extra code to do this. This is a cheap product compared to some other file managers that never get updated or improved as much as Dopus does.

True, it would be more complicated and time consuming for the team.

I would instead suggest that a light version be part of the current software as an option and people can switch between them, which would limit the current existing options, that's all.

I wouldn't make use of it as I like to see everything, but some may.

If a user starts using this program out of the box, that's already very close to "lite mode". So why having an extra option? Let the user build up their Opus gradually, if desired. Or leave it lite.

One suggestion might be a unique "theme/script pack/UI mod pack" designed by the DOpus staff that is the official implementation of "hide all the complexities and make it look simple"? But I suspect that's not going to hit what the OP is after, a cheaper way to acquire DOpus.

I appreciate what people are saying. It would be helpful then if processes are shown step by step using less jargon and the steps highlighted to that stage. Thanks.

You can start by reading in the online manual, where different concepts and also jargon is explained. And there are a few Youtube videos out there by users, like Shane Monroe or ThioJoe, as well as Opus Developer Leo Davidson, including a text version of that video. Other than that, that's why the forum is here.

And yes, it takes some time to find out the things, so nobody here, i guess, knew all the tricks and quirks right from the start. Users can pick up lots of things just by reading threads here in the forum, getting ideas and inspirations. Since the possibilities with Opus are so vast, it's quite a process to put together a configuration which satisfies the individual needs and use cases of an user. Just feel free to ask for assistance, if your stuck with some button code or how certain things work. This forum also has some amazing response time, at least for the majority of questions.
