Does the lock button, when locked, prevent format changes of all files/folders, regardless from where the changes is attempted (thus being a guard against unintended changes)?

The lock buttons prevents changes from being applied automatically as a result of changing directories.
If you manually go to Folder Options and start messing around, or add/remove/resize columns or change the sort order then Opus isn't going to stop you.
(Couldn't you just have tested this out instead of asking?)
