I've got a new "Logitech MX Revolution" Lasermouse.
By default this mouse uses the middle mousebutton for wheelsettings, but Setpoint offers an option to deactivate this and set this button to "autoscroll".
So if deactivated the middle button works as it should, but not in DOpus (Opera, IE, ... all work),
I tried "uberOptions", which is a hack for Setpoint, but it's not very stable.
i've used at least 6 Logitech mice in the past few years; i have both versions of their new Revolution mice and can say that their SetPoint software is horribly bloated and cumbersome. I have scrolling issues in both of my browsers but none in DO. It's an awful app.

I used MX518 and MX510 before without using Setpoint (no need under XP) and they worked very fine.
Because of all the functions of the MX Revolution mouse Setpoint is necessary. But I like the "addons" (like Zoomscroll).
I use a few 3-Buttons in DOpus only, but selecting files and opening in new lister with 3rd button I really need. Maybe I can assign them to a keyboard-command.
To behave middle-button as real middle button you have to look into "Other > Function > Middle button". Every button has got it's own presets of predefinded functions instead global for all, so the middle-button only appears in this preset
Setpoint isn't very userfriendly, but the mouse is cool.
You can hack around in Logitech's XML to assign any function to any button. It's a pain but possible. (A bit like using the UberOptions tool, but only to do specific things so it creates less of a mess. Also, UberOptions doesn't yet work with SetPoint3.30 for Vista which just came out, though I'm sure it will be updated soon.)
Have just hacked around with my XML to get the MX Revolution's side buttons to do something I want (switch and close tabs in Firefox), instead of the presets which seem like a waste of the three buttons.
BTW, I thought you wanted autoscroll to work in Opus? Middle Mouse doesn't do autoscroll in Opus, it does far more (IMO) useful things, like toggle selection in details mode and allowing three actions per toolbar button. When you said autoscroll didn't work in Opus did you mean that you wanted the middle mouse button to work as the middle mouse button?
It's confusing these days that mouse drivers (at least Logitech's ones) almost never default to the middle mouse button actually being a middle mouse button. O.o I guess not many apps use it so they figure it's best to assign it to something else.
Jon and I just realised that the Back and Forward buttons don't work in Opus, by default, under SetPoint. It's easy to fix by configuring them to the appropriate action, they're just on a weird setting by default. There's a new FAQ with the details.
Assigning the button to autoscroll was mentioned in another forum, and it behaves in every app like the middle button, except in DOpus. I found the "real" middle button option later, which is a bit hidden in Setpoint.
The back/forward buttons work without any probs here (MX 510 & 518 w/o Setpoint and Revolution with Setpoint). In MX Revolution Setpoint assigned these buttons correctly.
Also the often "discussed-but-will-never-implemented" parent-command ".." at the top of each lister is solved for me: I assigned a parent command to the left scrollwheel button via Setpoint.
Anyway: Logitech should have a look at Intellipoint, which is more comfortable, faster and stable!
