In Directory Opus, I select a RTF file and click the Edit Metadata tool: The Edit Metadata window of Directory Opus opens. Here I enter the Author name, a Subject, and a Title. Then I click the OK button to supposedly save the entered Metadata to the RTF file and close the window.
But later, when I reopen the Directory Opus Metadata window for this RTF file, they are all gone! Apparently none of them have been saved!
Then I test the MD5 hash sum for the RTF file BEFORE and AFTER editing the Metadata with Directory Opus: They are identical! So there was no Metadata written to the RTF file!
So why this does not work?

RTF files don't support metadata. The reason Opus is giving you the option is in the registry the content type for RTF files is set as "application/msword" even though they are not actually Word documents. We'll look at improving the error handling so that you get an error message in this situation.
Sorry, I meant they don't support setting metadata via the shell. If you bring up the Properties dialog you'll see that the Details tab for a RTF file does not let you set any of these fields, whereas the Details tab for a Word document does. Opus uses the same mechanism as the Properties dialog does to set metadata in document files.
It's possible that we could change Opus to save the metadata ourselves (especially since the file format is semi-plaintext), so I'm happy to put this on the list to be looked at for a future version.
