Missing context menu entries for PotPlayer

Hi. I have a weird issue that I couldn't find help for, by searching on here. I have Potplayer installed and the context menu options in it set up correctly, as far as I can tell. It also works correctly in Windows Explorer.

Basically if I select one file, multiple files of the same extension, or a folder, I get the PotPlayer Context Menu options of "Add to PotPlayer playlist", "Open", and "Play with PotPlayer". If I select two or more files with different extensions, none of the three context menu entries show up. It doesn't matter the extensions. It could be an MP4, MKV, WMV, AVI, etc...

I tried looking through file types and the various context menu options, but I can't figure out how to get it to add Potplayer to the context menu in this situation. I would appreciate any help.

Thanks.

Thanks, we'll take a look.

Hi. I'm just wondering if anyone ever looked at this and figured it out. I can't seem to figure out how to get the missing context menu entries. All other programs I use have their correct entries. I can't tell if I am doing something wrong or what. I wanted to wait until some new versions came out until asking for more help, but now it has been four and a half months, so I figure I'll ask again. If I am doing something wrong that is preventing the entries from showing up, I would appreciate any help.

Thank you.

It's due to the way PotPlayer registers its filetypes and menu items for different file extensions. They'll only currently appear if all the files are from one extension.

You could probably work around it by adding the same commands to the Movies file type group in Opus, copying the existing commands from the individual types.

Thank you for the response. I'll have to read up on how to do what you suggested. It's not end of the world, just the only thing I have to complain about with Dopus, as I have been really happy otherwise and have been able to figure out how to do things from reading the forums. This one just has me stumped.

May I ask two questions?

The first one is, why does it work in Windows Explorer the correct way, but not in Dopus?

The second is, would there be a way to fix this, either by a request to you guys or by a suggestion to be sent to the developers of Potplayer?

Thanks.

We may be able to make it work in the future. We're still thinking on that, and also trying to work out what Explorer is doing, as it's not obvious. The rules Explorer uses for filtering/merging menu items seem to be different depending on which types are selected and which file among the selection is right-clicked, and the rules seem to have changed since we last looked at them.

Thank you. I appreciate it and your help. I've been all over on video players and still can't get myself to leave PotPlayer. The rest just can't do what it can. This problem isn't leave it behind worthy, but just a small annoyance.

Thanks again.

We have a fix for this now, it should be released in the 12.20.1 beta (not sure when that will be, but probably within a month or so).

Thank you for remembering about it. I appreciate your time and effort on it.

Is there anything special that would need to be done to make this work in the new beta? I tried and it works the same as it did before. Is there a specific setting to get it to run right? I tried reinstalling the stuff from the Potplayer side, but all that did was remove the Play option from the Directory Opus menu that would sort of work like queuing them all at once and now I can't get that back, either. :sob: I actually have no clue how that got there in the first place, as it wasn't there when I originally wrote. It just said Play and kind of worked the same way as open all in PotPlayer.

I was never able to get it to work manually, as it would try to open them all separately if I tried to call upon it in a custom context menu option.

Thank you for the help.

Do the menu items appear if you hold shift while opening the menu?

No. It's the same menu either way.

I've updated the beta to hopefully make this work. Please download and reinstall and let us know how it goes.
