It seems that in the past, MOV files were viewable in the viewer pane in Opus 9.
But something must have changed, as now, very few MOV files will play in the viewer pane. I see a few shreds of color, and a normal sound track. but only very few will play normally.
I use VLC as my major viewer for all video formats. VLC is a superb media player/viewer.
I don't know what the viewer in Opus is calling on to view MOV files, and I do not have Quicktime installed, nor will I do so. I hate the program.
Is there a path that I can follow to fix the MOV viewer situation? And, can I call on VLC to take over here, and possibly for all video files?
The playing of MOV files in the Opus 9 viewer is at best "maybe". Some play, and some do not, probably for the reason noted in the FAQ.
Surprisingly, Quick View Plus 11 will not preview/play any of these files either.
But of course, VLC plays them all flawlessly.
The FAQ did not really offer any good solutions that I could see. Since this "problem" is very minor, as all I have to do is double click on the file, and VLC will open and play it, as MOV has been assigned to VLC.

P.S. I hate Apple's Quicktime for a variety of reasons. I used to use QuickTime Alternative, but since VLC, I use it, and I have removed Quicktime from all my systems. and installed VLC..
If some MOVs play but not others it indicates your video splitters/codecs don't understand some of the files.
I've found that's pretty normal with very old MOV files, FWIW. Support for playback of older MOV files is still patchy outside of VLC and QuickTime itself.
