When I display the metadata for .mp3 files, sometimes the fields are truncated ie Album name and/or title of the song. The track numbers are not displayed at times also.
I confirmed that the issue is only with Directory Opus when using other apps to edit the metadata.
If the displayed Album name is truncated and I 'add' the track numbers, the truncated album name gets written to the metadata even though it not marked as an updated field.
I can add characters to the metadata field so it's not a length issue.
Thanks! Al
How long are the names which get truncated? Can you point us to any example files?
Which version of Opus are you using?
I'm using the latest level of Opus 12.12 on Windows 10
I can send a mp3 file that I ripped. How large can attachments be?
Not seeing where I can attach anything
Thanks
Al
Just drag the file onto the message editor. You might need to .zip it first (not sure if the forum will accept .mp3 files as uploads).
In the attached file, when looking at the metadata via Opus, the album name is truncated and the track number is missing. Using Windows Explorer, under properties for that file the album name is ok and there is a track number

The tags are being truncated because the ID3v2 tag is out of spec and Opus is falling back on the ID3v1 tag.
We'll make a change to make our ID3v2 parsing less strict so that these files should display correctly, despite being out of spec.
OK, thanks! FYI, all the other apps I use handle the out of spec issue ie Plex, Tag$Rename
I've seen the issue on the song titles too but couldn't find an example.
It's probably the same underlying issue (it can affect all fields), so it'll be resolved at the same time we release the fix.
