MS Skydrive Alias

I just installed the OneDrive for Business app which syncs my onedrive account in the cloud down to my laptop. But it's a different folder than the standard onedrive folder. It installed it to: C:\Users<userID>\OneDrive for Business instead of C:\Users<userID>\OneDrive.

Is it possible to change the system aliases /onedrive and /skydrive to point to this folder? By default they go to the second path above.

Secondly, the SkyDrive shows up on the desktop in DO but clicking on it takes me to the older location. Is this possible to change as well?

This isn't covered in the FAQ (btw).

Do you now have both versions of OneDrive on the same machine? What happens in Explorer?

Adding an additional alias may make the most sense, if the old one is still valid for the OneDrive that is built into the OS. That can be done using Preferences.

The desktop icon can also be hidden via Preferences, and could be replaced by a shortcut pointing at the other version's folder if you want a shortcut there. (Or a button could be added to a toolbar or menu instead, so you can access it from any folder.)

Yes, I have both that show up. I had to re-sync the folder because, surprise surprise, it doesn't sync worth a damn... so it now lists:

  • OneDrive
  • OneDrive for Business 1
  • OneDrive for Business - UnSynced Changes

Crazy. As if syncing files to the cloud is a hard thing these days.?.?

Anyway, I can create a new alias to point to the business folder but ideally I would like to just change /onedrive. If I create /onedrivebiz, than I have to type 9 characters before it gets to my folder. I'm lazy that way.

You could create /o and only type two characters.

ahhh
