Hi I just downloaded the latest trial from the official website of directory opus, installed it but whenever I try to run it, it gives error saying xxxx.bpl file is missing this program cannot start. I downloaded that file from internet and then another file missing with same extension ".bpl". I almost downloaded 8 files but one error after another. Is there any fix for this ?
That must be caused by a 3rd party component on your system. Possibly a shell extension or some kind tool which hooks into other software.
BPL files are part of the Delphi programming language, which no parts of Opus or Windows is written in, so the message cannot relate to Opus itself, nor be coming from Windows.
It's possible you've installed some software written in Delphi which has put down a 32-bit shell extension, but not a 64-bit one (or not all the dependencies it requires), so when a 64-bit program like Opus tries to load the extension you get the error messages.
You can use ShellExView to see which shell extensions are installed on your system and try disabling them to see which is causing the problem.
Thanks for replying leo. you're right about everything you wrote but the problem is I can't find the problematic shell extension as there are many. Reinstalling windows ain't easy either as this is my office pc. Dopus is the only app which gives this error but no other application. I think the issue is because of Tuneup Utilities which someone had installed on this system but I removed them. How can I narrow it down ?
Using ShellExView is your best bet. Just disable all the non-Microsoft extensions as a first step, then reboot and confirm that the problem is gone. If it is gone, re-enable half of them and repeat, to see if the problem is in that half or the other half.
I downloaded and installed TuneUp Utilities disable program deactivator in settings and uninstalled it. Uninstalled and reinstalled DOpus and rebooted. It's working now.
