Is there a way to a multiple file text string search-and-replace in DO 9?

Not without calling into a 3rd party tool. Opus doesn't do search & replace in files at all (only in filenames).

FWIW as a webmaster I have to do this almost every day as I'll often need to change certain specific code in hundreds or sometimes thousands of files. I use NoteTab Pro to do it, it's fast and easy to use.

As far as Opus doing it in a future version, you can always file a request for it.

If you want real search/replace you and you don't mind paying you should try Funduc "Search & Replace" or JGSofts PowerGREP.

Both are very good, but the latter is seriously more advanced, not to mention effective, but the price of PG is much higher too.

Both can perform search/replace through commandlines or scripts, so they lend themselves nicely to buttons etc.

I know that this is an old thread, but I thought I would link to my Perl regex search and replace button for anyone who may come across this thread and want a cheap solution to doing complex search and replace.

I'd also like to chime in for the vote for built-in search & replace within files for DO. For the time being, I'm using GrepWin which also has nice command line support.

Rename multiple folders and search files
replace with pipe separation as Vbscript
Search a VBSCRIPT FOLDER / Files
with a search string with pipe and a replacement string carries
Example:
Search: "Text1 | Text2 | Text3 | etc ..."
Replace: "E-Text1 | E-Text2 | E-Text3 | etc ...."
Is the length of the search string limited?
Is it possible with a preview also?
