Right now I have my D: drive expanding on startup to reveal all of its folders. How can I have other drives expand to reveal their folders on startup?
(This seems like a duplicate of your earlier thread.)
The answer is that you can't, at least in the current version. You can only have the current folder expanded in the tree at the moment, plus (optionally) My Computer.
BTW, there are lots of other ways to provide convenient methods to get to folders you use a lot. Have you considered them?
e.g. Using toolbar buttons or pop-up menus will let you access commonly-used folders no matter where the tree has scrolled or expanded to.
e.g. If you don't want to use toolbar space, you could have your lister start in a Collection of commonly-used folders, so that you can select them easily from that starting point. (And you could make a button which returns you to that collection if you've navigated elsewhere.)
My earlier thread asked if I could specifically expand on the Favorites folder at startup. This particualr thread is asking if I can expand more than one drive folder during startup.
Based on your answer, I have to assume that you can have only one drive folder (of any sort) expanded at startup.
Leo, in reply to your comments.
I don't want to have to do anything to see my commonly used folders. They should just be there at all times. If I had uncommonly used folders, then I would not mind clicking occasionally on a button to view the folder.
Let me amend my feature request. If there was a button that I could see at all times where I could view a folder's contents by clicking it, AND would allow me to drag and drop files onto that button, then I would have my dream come true.
I know that I can create a button to view a folder's contents, but there is no way that I know of to be able to drag files and drop them onto that button so the files would transfer to the folder associated with the button.
Is there a way to do this?
Buttons that go to folders do exactly that by default, if I've understood correctly.
Again Leo, if what you say is true, then you are a God and I worship you!
I haven't had time to learn how to create a button yet, but when I do I will try this out.
I never even heard of Directory Opus until yesterday, so I haven't done much with it yet.
Making buttons that go to folders is really easy: Select Settings -> Customize and then simply drag a folder to your toolbar, then click OK in the Customize window to save the change.
Have a look at the Toolbars video in the tutorials section of this forum to quickly learn a few more thing about toolbar editing, like how to change the icons / labels.
I will check that out!
Leo, what can I say! You know how to make my day!
