Multiple Monitor Support

Version: 13.11 x64 (Windows 11)

Here's what I'm trying to do and I may just be misinterpreting what DO can do in this regard or not using the settings properly, But I've fussed with this long enough to be worth asking the question, so here goes:

Setup: I have 3 monitors: A freestanding 22" @ 4k, a 17" laptop display @ 4k and another display in the laptop just above the keyboard that's also a 4k display just cut in half horizontally to make it a short and wide 2k display (ASUS ZenBook Pro Duo).

Goal: I would like to have two vertical listers on the main laptop display and the preview and metadata panels on the 2k display directly beneath it.

Best Attempt: I can simply drag the window to cover both screens and arrange the windows as described. However, that doesn't account for the pesky taskbar at the bottom of the primary display. So if I do it that way, then some part of two of the windows is hidden behind the taskbar.

Imagined Solution: Directory Opus would be able to split itself into two main windows like how the Enterprise can separate from the saucer section (don't even play like you don't know!). Then each could be maximized on their respective monitors with the taskbar nestled in between.

This is a nice-to-have thing, I can absolutely live without it. So don't take it as a priority request or anything. But if this is a scenario you've accounted for already and I just need to check a box somewhere, that would be really nice.

You can already open multiple windows instead of one, if you want two or more separate windows of different sizes on different monitors.

While I appreciate the obviousness of that proposal, it unfortunately does not work for a few reasons:

  1. The title and toolbars occupy 1/3 of the screen real estate on the bottom monitor (it's half-height)
  2. As best I can tell, it is not possible to run DO with no listers open
  3. Even if I could run with only the preview and metadata panes open, there is no communication between the windows. Therefore, clicking a file in a lister in the top window does not populate the preview and metadata panes in the bottom window.

You can have a separate viewer window that's linked with the Lister, and updates to show the current selection. It's not quite the same as the preview panel, but effectively does the same thing.

You can also display a metadata panel in the viewer, so that would almost give you what you want.

That sounds good. How would I go about doing that?
