Multiselection - How to Switch Off?

Hi!

For some yet unknown reason, when selecting files with mouse left button and w/o any additionally pressed key, each file I click is selected without unselecting the previous one.

I would expect such a behavior only when left clicking and holding down the Ctrl key. As can be seen here in next video taken from Windows Explorer.

Strange enough, this only happens in this single folder (and within another one, based on the same SMB network share).
However, not all folders on the same share act like the one descibed. Others show the same behavior like Windows Explorer above.

So, question is, is there and option that causes this folder based? A guess a folder format is not capable of doing so, at least I did not find and option there.

Btw, it does not matter if expandable folders are switched on or off in this case.

That folder is being handled by the Windows shell for some reason, so it'll behave the same as in File Explorer.

There's probably a hidden desktop.ini inside it which is specifying a shell namespace that has to be used to display it instead of showing it as a normal directory.

@Leo, perhaps I did not properly express the issue. It's not about the way the folder is displayed but how selecting files works inside.

When trying to select a single file and moving to the next one to be selected, the previous file stays selected. This continues for all other files.

And as motioned above, Windows Explorer behaves normal. A click on one file does select it, clicking a next one does deselect the previous one and moves the selection to the new file.

If the folder is being handled by Explorer then we have no control over how file selection works inside of it.

I found the issue of this, no desktop.ini or similar involved

Please have a look into this video and see what happens. The Folder Format has Power Mode enabled and this is the cause of my issue.

If I toggle the View Mode from Power Mode to e.g. List Mode, the multiselctions disappears.

Hence, I had a look into preferences, especially Power Mode and found the causing option:

Changing the Left Button behavior from Drag Select to e.g. Auto-Deselect, immediately switched the unwanted behavior as described above.

So, problem solved :vulcan_salute:

The older video shows file explorer handling the folder. (You can tell by the way the column sort arrow looks.) Power Mode shouldn’t affect that as it’s an Opus-only thing.

(Yes, Power Mode can give similar selection modes in Opus, but it won’t be what was causing your initial problem.)
