Multiview & Quick View Plus 10 viewers on Windows 7

Quick View Plus 10 displays DBF files and others with no problem. I've use Mulitview to point to the QVP 10 viewers (dlls) but DBF files (and others) are not displayed in Opus 9.5 viewer pane.

How can I fix this?

Thanks,

RMS

Are you using 64-bit Windows 7 or 32-bit?

Thanks for your reply. I'm running Windows 7 64bit.

64-bit Opus needs 64-bit versions of the viewer DLLs. Chances are the ones you pointed at are 32-bit.

Not sure where to get the 64-bit ones, though. Maybe someone else here will know.

Thanks, Leo. There aren't any 64bit .dlls for QVP. This puts me on the horns of a dilemma: 1) I can revert to DOpus 32 bit, right? 2)or switch to FreeCommander.

Even though I'm a long-time user of DOpus, the relative lack of plugins useful for the kind of work I do (spatial statistics, GIS, shapefiles, dbf files, etc.) is pulling me toward FreeCommander and its ability to use any of the Total Commander plugins, which are numerous and continuously developed.

Would it be possible to adapt DOpus to this universe of plugins?

Thanks,

Bob

You can't install 32-bit Opus on 64-bit. You probably wouldn't want to as 32-bit file managers don't work very well on 64-bit OS.

(Windows "lies" to 32-bit apps about the filesystem for compatibility reasons. So 32-bit file managers either can't see all the folders or they have to ask Windows to tell the truth in particular parts of the code, but then are likely to run into problems because different parts of the code have an inconsistent view of things... You'll also lose the ability to use 64-bit shell extensions, etc.)

I'm thinking about using the techniques in my ActiveX plugin to give Opus the ability to use the 32-bit QVP DLLs. TBH, I didn't realise many people still used them since the ActiveX plugin handles most of the formats people used to use MultiView for.

Thanks again, Leo. I'll hope you have success with the activex tweak.
