Music file metadata batch editing

Background

  • My pair of 1Tb HDD's where in a simple mirrored format contained 4 partitions
  • For whatever reason the mirroring failed requiring the pair of disks being taken back to single partition basic GPT format, prior to re-formatting all data was backed up
  • Each disk is now working

Current

  • The old partition containing my music was circa 296 GB, this has now been copied back into a Music directory in the main single partition HDD, as below

    image

  • Whilst all the music files appear to be usable, many appear to have their Metadata-Standard Properties-Attributes incorrectly or partially tagged, as shown below

    image

  • As I understand, the .jpg/.ini & .db should be tagged S & H, which colours them red for easy visual identification

  • I could spend hours & hours correcting each file individually, but I can't help feeling that DOpus must allow this to easily be done

  • I have spent some time working through your tech manual & as a non techie am not finding an easy answer; I have attempted modifying numbers of folders but all I seem to achieve is changing the main filename red while leaving un-changed the file contents

Kind regards

The attributes H+S has a special meaning (operating system files). If you just want to colour certain files red you'd be better off using the labels system. E.g. you could set up a wildcard label to make any file called AlbumArt* red.

Labels can be set up through Preferences or through Folder Options on a per-folder basis.

Many thanks for your comments, that the txt is red is not overly important, but I just felt I ought to correct the metadata tag boxes which had become changed during the data copying.
I understand the attributes are for the OS, that the H & S boxes are both fully/partially or not marked seems to, so far, make no odds to my system use.
Any further comments?
Kind regards

The H+S attributes won't make any difference to most software, other than making the files harder to overwrite.

Whatever set them in the past was probably just trying to hide the files from view. H+S files are hidden in most things by default, even when configured to show files with just H.

Okidoki, many thanks I'll leave it all as it is!
