NetFolders in XP / Vista

I create netfolders in My Network Places and then copy them into my local folders to provide share access in a structured manner. These netfolfers behave just like a regular folder except they are pointed to a network share. Windows Explorer allows me to navigate to these netfolders and to the sub folders on the share as if they are local - i.e. the folder tree stays in the local branch.

In DOpus this works ok until I select a file or share folder in the lister instead of the tree. When I select the file or folder in the lister the tree switches to My Network Places - Entire Network - Microsoft Windows Network .... to the server - share - subfolder. Not only am I now away from my local organized folder structure, but my work network has 1,000s of servers and the tree is HUGE. Thus I end up scrolling the tree by large sweeps... its a pain.

For DOpus to be of value I will need it to maintain tree paths across netfolders. Am I missing a configuration setting? I searched the forums for netfolder and it came up blank.

I know about mapped drives and that is not the solution I am looking for either.

Thanks!

Hi! You could better search for “Network AND folders”, since "netfolders" sounds not quite appropriate to me.

Ah, I've always called them Net Folders. I see they are called Web Folders.

What ever they are called : My Network Places - Add a Network Place - Choose another network location - Internet or Network address: \server\share\path\path - Finish.

I can then copy this to a local folder and navigate across it without being tossed out to the entire network tree in Windows Explorer. Can't in DOpus

Thanks for your help. I looked and looked through page after page of search listings and I see no messages concerning this.

OK - Well then I guess uninstall is the only option here. Business must be good to ignore customers...
