New USB drive automatically opens in new tab

I've been looking in help and forums for ages and I'm obviously using the wrong keywords for searching as I didn't manage to find anything regarding this topic.

So, is it possible to have a new tab open when inserting my USB drive? I can make a new lister pop up every time the USB drive is inserted but it'd be more practical if just a new tab showed up.

Dooh the "Open external folders in a new tab" was unchecked, I was so convinced I had it checked that it somehow slipped through.
