Nikon Z8 NEF metadata in the right-hand panel

Hello,

I am currently evaluating Directory Opus 13 and I really like it. I am trying to configure it to work similarly to the Windows 10 Explorer, especially with photographs.

I have one problem with Nikon Z8 NEF files.

When I select a NEF file in the file display, the Metadata panel on the right does not show the photographic EXIF information such as:

ISO
shutter speed
aperture
focal length
lens
camera model
date/time

However, when I open exactly the same NEF file in the Directory Opus Image Viewer (F10), all of this photographic information is displayed correctly.

So Directory Opus clearly can read the EXIF data from the Z8 NEF file.

My question is:

Is there any way to make the right-hand Metadata panel display the same photographic EXIF information that is shown in the F10 Image Viewer?

I would ideally like to have a layout similar to this:

Left/main area: large thumbnails of the photographs
Right panel: information about the currently selected photograph, including ISO, shutter speed, aperture, focal length, lens, camera model, etc.

I am aware that these values can be added as columns, but that is not what I am looking for. I specifically want the information in the right-hand panel for the currently selected image, similar to the Windows 10 Explorer Details pane.

If this is currently not possible, is there perhaps a script, add-on, or another way to achieve it?

The metadata panel only shows fields that can be edited (other than a couple of things like resolution, for convenience). Raw images are read-only in Opus (and we feel a little risky to edit, given how they are proprietary and undocumented file form…

Raw images are read-only in Opus (and we feel a little risky to edit, given how they are proprietary and undocumented file formats, as well as used for archiving of untouched images from the camera).

So we show that metadata in info-tips and columns, but not in the metadata panel.

Extending the metadata panel to show more read-only data may happen in the future (definitely makes sense!), but isn't how it was designed or works currently.

I understand the reasoning behind keeping the Metadata panel focused on editable metadata. However, I am not asking to edit RAW metadata.

For a photographer, it would be extremely useful if the Metadata panel could optionally display just a few basic read-only shooting parameters from RAW files:

ISO • Shutter Speed ​​• Aperture • Focal Length

The Image Viewer already reads and displays these values ​​correctly from my Nikon Z8 NEF files, so the information (F10) is already available to Opus.

I think it doesn't work in Thumbnails mode.

Tiles mode lets you have a thumbnail next to configurable metadata.

You can also display Thumbnails in Details mode (there's a button for this in the default toolbars, called Details + Thumbnails. Or turn on the Thumbnail column for a similar result).

Here's another idea.
It should be possible to have the source file display in thumbnails or tiles mode and the destinatiion file display in details mode.

With both file displays in the same folder any columns desired can be displayed in the details file display with the source file display being thumbnails or tiles.

Nav lock could also be helpful here .
Full line selection is also easy.

Only using simple Directory Opus Commands,
Already we have Select SOURCETODEST .

How difficult would it be to write a script button to keep the selections in real time ?

Edit: After looking into this a bit, perhaps info tips alone is a better answer to this ?
