No subfolders when switching between thumbnails and details

Bug or not?

Imagine following scenario

 • folder\subfolder
 • subfolder contains images

in subfolder, switch from details / explorer mode to thumbnails
then select parent folder
then click on details mode (explorer tab)

right window panel shows all files in details mode, but does not list folders.
lock/unlock 'padlock' - this does make any difference.

Easy workaround is to click on any subfolder (in the left window panel) and then select
the parent folder again.

Click on the file display that isn't showing folders and Go to Tools -> Folder Options -> Filters. Is it filtering which folders are displayed?

On the Display tab in the same place, is Mixing set to "Folders listed before files" or something else?

Have you edited your styles?

Leo, you seem to be working about 23 hours a day I guess

Filename: *
Folders: *

Folders listed before files.
All pretty much default.

Nope, sorry.
Added extension/location to the layout, but is that's it.

Have been playing with Preferences-Styles-Explorer-Stile Right window->Right File display which was set to "Flat View is 'Off'"
to Mixed, but that did not change the behaviour.

It's not normal for * to be in the filters.

Do you mean * in the show or the hide filter?

Normally both would be blank...

Regretfully same behaviour even if the boxes are empty.

Instead of using styles to change to/from Details/Thumbnails modes, use the View menu.

Still the same thing? If not, it's a setting in your styles.

If it still the same even when not using styles, please clarify exactly what you are doing, i.e. how are you selecting the parent folder (in the tree? breadcrumbs bar?). Maybe post some screenshots so we can see what's happening, too.

Pls give it a try yourself:

 • folder\subfolder
 • subfolder contains images
 1. in subfolder, click on images-tab
 2. go to parent folder
 3. click on explorer tab (details view)

notice that all folders disappeared and you will see all files in all folders in details mode without folders.

to get the folders back in the right window panel:
To get the folders back in the right window panel, click on any subfolder in the left window panel
and then on the rootfolder.

Your 2nd option is a solution

 1. in subfolder, click on images-tab
 2. go to parent folder (folders are displayed as images)
 3. click on view

This indeed shows the subfolders, not shown in the above scenario.

I admit it is a minor thing.

I've tried that but the folders show up just fine.

Then there must be something about your Images and/or Explorer styles that is hiding folders.

Presumably you've edited the styles at some point.

Go to /dopusdata\ListerStyles and look at Explorer.ols and Images.ols. These are the contents of my files, which I think are more-or-less unchanged from the defaults (as I never use styles and would be unlikely to have edited them, though I'm not certain):

Explorer.ols:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
Images.ols:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
Here is mine, rename txt to ols.
Seems there is no change to the images.ols as it has the same filedate/time as the other .ols files.
Explorer.txt (1.02 KB)

Right-click the styles tabs and select Edit Styles, then highlight the Explorer style.

You'll see that at some point you have edited the style so that it turns on "Flat View: Mixed (No Folders)" for the left file display, which is why you aren't seeing any folders when you use that style.

As always - thanks Leo!
Have set it to 'Off'.

Up front, this flatview button, it works fine - I regularly use.

In flat view, i.e. only having the files displayed, is there a way to select a file and then open the folder where the file resides.
Something like "Open folder"?
Don't have this in my context menu.

Thanks

go opencontainer will do that.

Ah!
Many thanks
