I am migrating to a different computer. I did a backup of DO from its menu and used that to setup DO on the new computer. On the first computer, I have c, e and h drives. On the new one, I only have a c drive. When I click on Go->My Computer on the new computer, it lists drives c,e and h. I thought that built-in DO option read the drive list from the computer. Any idea why that is not happening?
One possible reason, that you have an edited GO Drivebutton command, see also in the manual:
If you Alt-click on your C: drive, you can check, if any of those customizations apply, so you can either
remove those parameters or customize them.
Thanks for the suggestion but, no, I never edited the buttons that came with DO. I checked it anyway but it doesn't have any exceptions.
The My Computer folder is a virtual folder and hence in Opus 9 is provided by Explorer (Opus hosts the underlying Explorer control) - so if the drives are showing in there it's because Explorer puts them there. What happens if you look in My Computer in Explorer itself?
Yes. That button now only displays the actual drives. But clicking on My Computer in the menu still shows them all. Do I need to change that command to? Is this normal on Windows 7 or should I uninstall/install DO and not restore my settings?
Ok, so I'll refer you back to the answer I gave several days ago:
In your screenshot above, the image taken from Explorer is of the tree, not the folder itself. What do you see in Explorer when you actually go into the Computer folder?

I've already answered you but to be clear, explorer does not, anywhere or in any way, display the extra drives that DO does.
Do you have a USB multi card reader (for camera SD cards and the like) connected by any chance? That would explain what you are seeing. If you insert an SD card, one of the drive letters will show up in Explorer and I believe (don't have access to a multi card reader to test) that DO will behave like Explorer if you use the hideempty option.
The My Computer view provided by the Windows shell includes empty drives, except within Explorer itself where Windows 7 has the option of hiding them. That option will not affect other programs (presumably for compatibility reasons), so when Opus asks for a My Computer view it includes the empty drives.
Opus has the option to hide empty drives on the Drive Buttons toolbars it generates, but that is all at the moment.
Support for hiding empty drives in other places is coming...
Jon - here is the screen shot you asked for. I also uninstalled/installed DO and didn't make any changes other than entering my certificate. You can see it has the extra drives right off the bat. Would the uninstall not have removed some setting that the new install is picking up?
Leo - I understand what you are saying but where are the empty drives coming from? They are not on the system, as far as I know. And they are not in DO, at least I can't see how they can be with a new install. But they show in DO and the ones that show happen to match what is on my old system. If Windows was just picking up empty drives, it seems unlikely the drives would match what is on my other system.
