Users should be able to add files, not just folders, to the favorites, and the files should open, not just show up in the lister. UltraExplorer has this function.
BTW, as a pretty good workaround, you can do this in the Applications toolbar.

When editing a toolbar, you can drag any file to it to make a button that opens the file.
I note that a path to a text file can be placed on the Favorites Bar and it will open the file directly.

This is true, but it would be simpler to just make it drag and drop.
It is drag & drop, you just have to be in Customize mode first.
We are making it so you can drag & drop folders to the Favorites Bar in Opus 13, without being in Customize mode, but haven't extended that to files, which still require you to be in Customize mode first. I'm not against extending that for files, but it's not done currently.
