[ul][li]Google Earth vs Google Maps:
Images can contain embedded GPS coordinates of where they were taken.
Opus has built-in support to open Google Earth (the application you install on your PC) at the coordinates of the selected image via this command:
Image LOCATE=googleearth
However, at the time of writing, there isn't built-in support for Google Maps (the website).
Built-in support for Google Maps may be added but for now you can do it via the button below.
[/li]
[li]Purpose of the button:
Google Maps will be opened in your default web browser at the location of each selected image, provided the images have GPS EXIF data which Opus knows how to extract.
Files which don't have GPS EXIF data, or which are in formats that Opus doesn't extract EXIF from (e.g. Raw at the time of writing), will be ignored.
[/li]
[li]Installing the button:
[ul][li] Download Open_Image_Coords_in_Google_Maps_3.zip.[/li]
[li] Extract the zip file, giving you Open Image Coords in Google Maps.dcf. (This step is important. Don't just double-click the zip to enter it. Extract it.)[/li]
[li] Enter Customize mode in Opus, via Settings -> Customize.[/li]
[li] Drag the Open Image Coords in Google Maps.dcf file to your Opus toolbar and it will turn into a button.[/li]
[li] Click OK in the Customize window to exit Customize mode.[/li][/ul]
You can now select some images and click the button. That's it!
[/li]
[li]How the button works:
The button is a Rename command which uses VBScript, but it doesn't actually rename any of the files. I have written a separate post, "Abusing" Rename Scripts to do other things with file info which explains this technique.
The button itself contains the rename script so that people are not forced to clutter up their Rename Presets to use it.[/li][/ul]
