PDF Tag "Property Does Not Exist"

I added tags to all my PDF's at once. About 10% won't allow any metadata on them.
They error out with this:
PDF Error

Recently I switched over to Foxit PDF reader, and used an uninstall tool to remove traces of Adobe products. So that could be it. Or do I need another plugin for metadata? I see that the Windows Club has this "File Metadata Association Manager" for unsupported filetypes. ?

Can you add the same tag to the same file via the Properties dialog, or does that also fail?

For both the PDF's I can add metadata and the ones I can't, there is no available boxes on the Windows properties dialog box, to change metadata.

There is an "N" attribute on them.

The details for the ones I can edit:
Can Edit

The ones I cannot edit:
Cannot Edit

EDIT: No, that's wrong. It's pretty random. Both types of details are on the ones I can and cannot edit, and some are blank.

Oh cool, the viewer showed me a permissions error.
Then clicking it I get this info box:

Permissions

This could just be a permissions issue. I'll try to obtain permissions.

I added full control to my current user profile, but still nothing.
I'll probably just reinstall Adobe Acrobat and see what happens. It might even be Foxit itself that is blocking me for some reason.

Installed Adobe Acrobat, chose my settings, restarted the computer.
It still isn't working. :weary:

The last screenshot seems to suggest the PDF is set to deny editing, which may include changing tags.

The permissions on the ones that don't work are the same or less permissions than the ones that work.

Tried the 'WIndows Club' File Association Manager.
Rebuilt my Everything index, double checking on every setting.
Tried the Windows filter pack 2.0
Tried Exif tool.
Repaired Acrobat.
Opened with Foxit then 'save as' to overwrite the file. That worked on one pdf, then didn't work again after that.

The ones that work seem to have a completely different format than those that don't.

Does work:

Does not work:

The ones that work have a lot more information.
Was made with Adobe PDF Library 15.

The broken ones were made with "Tex Live".

This is a lot of work for stupid tags on my pdf's.

I'm also disappointed that the viewer knows the page count on documents but the pages column isn't printing that info.

Eleven Pages

Pages Column

I was going to wait to ask about that, but it looks like I won't be getting this issue fixed, and I have no way of knowing if this problem is on my end.

Created an Adobe account so that I can try the save-as trick on the offending pdf's.
It worked on about half of them.
The rest got purged. I lost about 20 manuals or so. Then I got rid of Acrobat. And removed the sixteen thousand objects it tried to leave on my computer. Bye Adobe. You know where you can stick your legal malware.

There is a solution for everything under the sun.
Use Fire 2

Can any software add tags to the PDF files that are causing problems? The files may be set to block modifications (e.g. because they are digitally signed and changing them would break the signature; or just because whoever made them is mean).

Not sure. I've been using Dopus to add tags, which has been working fine, so I didn't think to use something else. But that is a good idea to try. I tried Eagle, but that is sidecar tagging; I'll look for something else to test out.

This is one of the offending pdf's. Could you download it and see if you can add a tag to it on your computer, please.

ExifTool can be used to add tags to problematic files:

exiftool.exe -XMP:Subject=dummy -@ {allfilepath|filem}

Once the files are "fixed," Opus should also be able to modify the tags.
