PDF Thumbnails

I am looking for a solution that will let me view PDF thumbnail images that show some representation of the document in the PDF file. I assume the viewer will show the full PDF in a seperate panel.

The key is to be able to scroll through the thumbnails and automaticaly view the full PDF document in the viewer for the thumbnail under the cursor.

Is there a JPG thumbnail view available, such that a miniture of the document is displayed in the thumbnail. Currently I can only see a PDF icon.

Thumbnails for PDF files are generated by the PDF viewer you have installed, not by Opus itself.

You should see the same thumbnails in File Explorer, as it will be using the same PDF viewer to generate them.

Different PDF viewers have different capabilities here, so if your current viewer doesn't do what you want, another one might.

My personal recommendation is that you install Sumatra PDF reader. Just be sure to click Options on the installer, and make sure "Let Windows show previews of PDF documents". You should get both thumbnails in DOpus and a scrollable full pdf in the preview panel.

You can enable Thumbnails if you are using Adobe Acrobat by:

  • Open Acrobat

  • Press CTRL+K to open Preferences

  • Click "General"

  • Click "Enable PDF Thumbnail previews in Windows Explorer"

  • Click OK
