Importing buttons with associated icons from others can cause significant lag in Directory Opus, as well as very slow cold and hot startup times, especially when multiple copies of the button are made.I understand the reason is due to missing associated icons. Is this lag normal?

The delay is about 1 second for me. I don't think this matters, given how rarely it's done (especially with a .dcf containing so many missing icons), and the fix is to fix the icons in the button to ones that exist, which you need to do whether or not there's a short delay the first time you import the menu.
Can a feature be added to remove related icons and shortcuts when importing buttons?
