Phantom Drive Letters

While installing the drivers for a flash card reader for a Canon camera I accidentally selected the wrong driver. After installing DirOpus opened a whole bunch of windows, and I mean a whole bunch, 20 or more. They were opening so fast I couldn't close one before the next opened.
I fairly quickly realized what was going on and uninstalled the driver but now I have 4 phantom drives. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of them?

Thanks,
Dwight Hoyes

Do they only appear in Opus, or in all other programs as well?

Yes, the drives appear in any app, including Windows Explorer, that is open.

Resolving your problem will depend upon exactly what your current operating system is.

This is only a guess, but if you happen to be using XP you might try navigating to:

CONTROL PANEL
ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS
COMPUTER MANAGEMENT
STORAGE
DISK MANAGEMENT

And seeing what your options are for all available drives.

I'm using Windows 2000 Pro

Windows 2000 Pro should be the same as XP in regards to what I suggested last time. Make sure you're logged on as the administrator first. Once you're in disk management try clicking on the menu command ACTION then RESCAN DISKS. I have no idea if this will resolve the problem but it's what I'd try first.

Okay, thanks for the guidance. I'll give that a try on the weekend and let you know how it goes.

That worked. Thankyou very much.
Also learned something new in the process which is just as good!

Again John, thanks.
