Photo renaming

Hi,

I was delighted that one of the provided scripts allowed one to rename photos. I made very simple changes to the script to use datetaken to add this to the start of each photo.

Unfortunately, I have add on files used to store information from various editing software. For example, I have photos with a .NEF suffix as I use Nikon but I have an associated edit using a .dop suffix for the same file name.

These suffixed files do not have a datetaken as they are not the original photo and I would need them to change the file name to reflect the change in the base photo.

Has anyone developed such a script as I don't have the skill level to manage the complexities that this problem gives.

Regards

Ian

Are the two files in the same folder as each other, with the same names (aside from the different extensions)?

If so, the Rename matching filenames as one option may be all you need.

Adding to that, there is one large caveat, as the option wasn't really designed for this kind of use (but can still be useful):

The file that you want to be the basis of the change has to come first. If the extensions and .dop and .nef and you want info from the .nef to be used to rename both it and the .dop, then you'd want to reverse the sort order in the lister before clicking the rename button. (So the .nef comes before the .dop.)
