Could you add a "Pin To Top On Enter", that only pins the item to the top when entering the folder. Then any filters or column sorting would break that pinned state. You would have to leave and enter the folder again to re-enable it. It would be a type of "reminder" pin.
Where are the icons for these so I can modify their colours. ?
Can you add an option for any pin to tops that we can decide "if before or after folders", please.
And can we have a pin to bottom. Same everything as top, but to the bottom.
Can we get an argument so we can create a button that toggles the pinning something to top or bottom, without having to use the status menu dive.
The label filters that trigger the "Pinned" state can't be toggled off with that menu item.
If something got pinned because a label filter applied that state, it's stuck that way until the label conditions are no longer met. That's no good.
You can also use external icons if you want different ones.
You can already do that using the Properties command.
Filter labels are separate to explicitly applied labels. You can't remove a filter label on a file, other than by changing the filter so it no longer matches the properties of that file.
There's no way to explicitly apply an "anti-label" to a file to stop it getting that label via a filter or something else, except if you want to stop it getting all other labels, which could be done by assigning it a label that doesn't change anything and turning on Stop On Match for it, so no further labels are considered.
The brown blends in with the dark mode a little bit, while the other icons still pop.
Oh cool! Now I have my own pin button.
COOOOL!
The issue is that the pin to top renders the column sorting useless. You're asking the columns to sort all items except for the pinned ones. Which is the point of pinning, yea, but it could also be used as a reminder. That anything "made this week" etc. can be brought to your attention when you enter a folder, but doesn't change the sorting.
So I think there should be a pinned and a tacked. The tacked status being "pin to top only on folder enter", so other sorting, filters, searches etc. applied after entering the folder will remove it for the current folder session when triggered.
The point of pinning to the top is to pin to the top. If you want a pin icon as a label without pinning to the top, make a new label using a pin icon and don't turn on the "pin to the top" option.
I'm requesting a new feature, not a change to 'pin on top'.
This new feature would act as a reminder. When new files are set to automatically sort in the folder format:
they tend to get lost in large folders. You could click the date created column, but that is dependent on the person remembering that they wanted to revisit their newly created items. When they are working with all different kinds of items in various places, some things slip through the cracks. A reminder "tack" would put items to the top (depends on custom triggers, like date created, etc.) so that it reminds the person that those files exist, without the person having to click the date created column over and over again.
But if they pin all new things to the top, then the column sorting no longer works. The new items can't be sorted. So a *temporary pin to top (only when entering the folder), would be helpful.
Or maybe "date created" could be the default sorting, and that would be a similar solution.
