Just trying out version 13 and loving it, except that one feature has gone missing – the ability to root the directory tree at a particular folder!
I would like to join with others who over the last few months have been requesting for this feature to be reinstated.
My family and I have been using this feature every day for many years and it is very helpful. Here are some of the ways we have been using it:
- I have a toolbar full of links to folders and each link is set to root at that particular folder. This helps when trying to really focus on one topic.
- Also, this can be done ad-hoc for any folder by shift right clicking and choosing Root Tree Here.
- I have computers set up for novice adult users and for children. It is a lot easier for them and for me if their folder tree is simply rooted at D Drive, which is where their data is kept. (If they were using v13, at minimum, they would see all the drives, which would cause confusion and inevitably things would go wrong.)
- I have set up a customised lister layout and folder format which is my web bookmarks solution (better than what the browsers offer). This relies on ‘Set TREEROOT’ to be a neat solution.
We will have to stick with v12 for now.
I’m sure that many others have found these tree rooting features helpful too, so we look forward to their return! Thanks.
