I've been reading up on the plugins for adding other file types to the ones that Opus will presently display in the viewer pane.
But it isn't clear to me what to do to get added items/file types to be viewable.
In my old machine, I believe that I could view Wordperfect files in Opus, but I don't remember what I did to do that.
I do have Wordperfect and Quattro Pro installed on my machine. And of course if I double click on their respective files, that program opens. But I'd like to have them viewable in the viewer pane.
I also seem to recall that installing QuickView gets all the file types it can view to display in the Opus viewer pane.
If you're on 32-bit Windows then installing QuickView and configuring Opus's MultiView plugin to use it should let you view WordPerfect and Quattro Pro files (assuming QuickView handles them; I haven't double-checked).
Otherwise, or if you don't want to install QuickView, you would need to install something which provides either a preview handler or an ActiveX control for the file formats, unless there is a native Opus viewer for them (which there isn't for WordPerfect or Quattro Pro).
Preview handlers are typically aimed at Windows Explorer in Vista/Win7, and/or Office 2007/2010, but also works inside of Opus automatically.
ActiveX controls are typically aimed at Internet Explorer, but also work in Opus if you configure the ActiveX plugin to handle the extension.
But I am running 64 bit Windows 7, on the new machine I just built. And I have to say, working with it is like driving on a road filled with rocks and broken glass. In retrospect, I should have waited anolther 6-9 months
Form what you have said, navigating that road for added previews also sound like a rocky road. So, I'll probably just pass on working for more viewers.
