Plugin to read M2TS

Hi guys,

(My first post message !!!)

I just bought my license of Opus Directory 9, and for now, the product is pretty fantastic.

The raison I bought an external File Browser is that I have 2 TO of hard disk and many picture and video file. I don’t have that many files, but a good tool, is always better.

The problem I have, is that all my video file came from my SONY HRD-SR7 and the format is M2TS as soon they are on my computer, otherwise, on the HDD the format before transferring them on my PC is AVCHD.

I also have a license for SONY VEGAS PRO 8.0.

The only way to browse M2TS files Picture Motion Browser from Sony which I use.

Is there any plugin that I can add to Opus Directory 9, so I will be able to view M2TS file thru my brand new file browser.

Thank in advance guys,

A fan from Montreal !!!

Patrick

I think you would need to install a video codec which handles that type of video file. Doing so would make it possible to play them in Windows Media Player, Opus, and just about any other video player.

Whether or not there is such a codec for that format, I don't know.

It's also possible that the software for the video camera has already installed a codec and you just need to add the appropriate extension to Opus's Movie plugin, under Preferences - Plugins - Viewers. (Select Movie, then click Configure.)

A codec certainly would be a start, although if you have software now that can view the files, then it may be there already.

A good place to begin to seek advice on this would be in Google land. A search for "M2TS files codec" throws up a fruitful set of results.

A lot of people swear by Media Player Classic as a way of consuming rare video formats.

Video formats, and how to handle them, arise all the time one one of the opera lists I frequent. In general, so few people are familiar with "exotic" formats that it can be hard to find places where they huddle together.
