Possible Translation Error in German language

Maybe a small translation error in German language within

The translation for singletons in German language is possibly wrong: When translation Einzelpersonen back into English, I would do that with single persons.

May I suggest to translate singletons into Undefinierte, or with complete option text: Undefinierte in Gruppe "Weitere" .
Assuming this option controls the created sections within a lister when its grouping is active.

Btw, when using this option, the label Singletons in "Other" group maybe wrong anyway, because the lister shows the group header "Unspecified" instead of "Other":

In German language, the group Weitere is used:

You will get an "Other" group if the option is on and there are two or more groups that only have a single item in them.

"Unspecified" is different, and usually collects items that have no data for the column you're grouping by.

I'd choose Einzelstücke. Not great, but better than Einzelpersonen

What about 'Einzeleinträge'? This would be closest to 'Single Entries'. Or even shorter 'Einzelne'. It doesn't explicitely specify what item, but it should be clear for any native speaker. I'd prefer the second one.

The word Singleton is one that I do not use.
Perhaps it is more familiar in British English.

The dictionary has it as "a single person or thing of the kind under consideration".
My German is nowhere near this level of understanding.
From School German I would use the word Ein or Einen.
Einen Englander for instance.

My High School German teacher was native East German.
He fought in WWII on the German side and held a German Physics degree.
He was far too easy of a teacher, but I remember him.

I bow out to abr's knowledge of both English and German.

A fuller definition from the Concise Oxford English Dictionary...

1 a single person or thing of the kind under consideration.
a child or animal born singly, rather than one of a multiple birth.
(in card games, especially bridge) a card that is the only one of its suit in a hand.
2 informal a person who is not in a long-term relationship
3 Mathematics & Logic a set which contains exactly one element.

As a bridge player I am very familiar with singletons. :grinning:

Einzelstücke sounds like a unique, a seldom collection item on a flee market to me :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Perhaps Einzelwerte is a better wording? Btw, I know singleton from singleton patterns, a programming thing. Don't want to dive deeper, as this gets off topic, now.

Or for gods sake, Einzeleinträge

Nevertheless, we German speaking forum members should give the developers the full label for the option or the translators.
E.g. Einzeleinträge in Gruppe "Weitere"

Yes, that sound a bit like authorities talk, like in your tax declaration. That's why i would recommend 'Einzelne', which would translate to something like 'single ones', or the singletons.
