Hello I want to randomly rename files, and then use sort by name feature to shuffle a bunch of photos in a folder so that they are not in any order by date, size etc. only by the new random name, is there a script I can use to do this? Thanks, Kevin.
There are already some scripts in the forum.

Yes, it can be done using Evaluator.
- You need to make an Evaluator Column that generates the desired random numbers. I made this one.
Here is the code that you can paste into the Evaluator Column GUI in Preferences.
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<evalcolumn align="0" attrrefresh="no" autorefresh="no" blurrable="no" customgrouping="no" foldertype="all" header="Rnd9999" keyword="Rnd" maxstars="5" namerefresh="no" nocache="no" reversegroups="no" reversesort="no" supportmarkup="no" title="Rnd9999" type="0">x = Rnd();
x = x * 9999;
return Left(x as "%04", 4);</evalcolumn>
- In the Advanced Rename GUI add this preset.
Here is the actual preset.
Rnd9999.orp (193 Bytes)
This may not be the best answer, but t does accomplish the task.
Or you could just sort by the column.
A little more work is actually needed to eliminate decimals on smaller numbers.
It can be done. This is a starting point and does accomplish the task.
If you want to include subfolders.
RENAME PATTERN="*" TO="*" RECURSE
@script JScript
function OnGetNewName(getNewNameData) {
var n = Math.floor(Math.random() * 9999) + 1;
var s = ("0000" + n).slice(-4);
return s+getNewNameData.item.ext;
}

Thank you
Thank you very much!
You can also shuffle files into a random order without renaming them at all:
