Read CD-Text

I use EZ CD Audio Converter to burn music CD's.

Apparently, this program is supposed to write CD-Text (music information) to the CD.

When I insert a newly burned CD into my DVR-218L it just says Track01, Track02, etc.

When I try to read a music CD in DOpus it says the same thing.

Does DOpus support reading CD-Text?

Thanks

Bruce

Opus reports whatever Windows and the filesystem reports the filenames to be. I don't think it's normal to see CD-Text used for the track filenames.

Maybe it depends on the file format you are burning to.

Just been through the process of ripping X00s of CDs.

I have never seen a CD with filenames other than Track01.cda, Track02.cda, etc.

Then again, I don't burn as the whole idea was to file a USB drive.

I use EZ CD Audio to burn CD's and it does burn CD-Text to the CD.

What I've discovered is 99.9% of the devices (all types) don't read CD-Text and just displays Tract01, etc.

I did find an add-on for WMP (WMPCDTEXT.exe) that when installed displays the Track info.

But, that leaves 99.8% of the other devices that still displays Tract01.

It would be a great idea if someone came up with a program that could be added to a burned CD that would allow devices to read CD-Text.

Something like auto play.

I just wish I had some programming ability.

P.S. I'm really surprised DO doesn't read CD-Text.

I'm really surprised anyone still uses CDs

I agree, but I also suspect there's still a lot of people out there who use music CD's.

Apart from minidisk, 8-track, cassettes and reel-to-reel tapes, there's no such thing as a dead format. Sales of CDs bottomed out last year. And don't forget the LP boom.

I don't know why you'd want to burn a "cda" file. With many CD players now supporting alternative formats, I'd go for tagged FLAC files if I felt the urge to burn a CD.

But that is not a useful response to someone who may have squillions of CDs that they want to organise and maintain.

I'll try burning a CD with tagged FLAC files the next time around and see how that does.

My complaint is now when I play a CD in my car the CD says Track01, etc. and it would be nice to see the name of the what song was playing.

And, my car is an older model and the CD player is the only way to listen to music.

We can't do anything about your car.

In which case, it may not see flac files.

It's been a while since I burned an audio CD but I do seem to remember that Nero Burning Rom has the ability to add Track names etc to a CD. From what I remember it worked pretty well, too. FYI the last version of Nero I used was Nero 12, so it may be a starting point.

The OP can already burn CD-Text. The problem is almost no music players support reading/using CD-Text.

I'm locking this thread as we haven't been talking about Opus for some time now.
