Hello all, today I was very amazed as I noticed that a open or a save file dialog window of a program (for example Excel, Notepad, Word and so on) shows the same folders, which I click on in Directory Opus. I was very happy to see this because I was searching several ours for a programm, which shows recent folders and favourite folders in the open/save dialogs of ALL programs. I tried different ones like Buzz Folders, Direct Folders an so on, but Directory Opus does the job so good itself that I dont need other programs for this from now on. I was wondered that I didnt find a note on this functionality in the manual. I think, this is a very important function which can save ours and ours of time for everyone.
In other topics I read, that it depends on the program I use, wether DOpus can be linked with the file dialogs, and so there are some programs, where this amazing thing does not work. (I think 1 of 20 programs).
My question is: how can I access the recent files list in this way. If I click on any folder in DOpus the same folder is viewed in the open/save file dialog of the actual application. But if I click on the Windows 7 Recent file folder it will be not displayed in the open/save file dialogs of the program. How can I arrange this.
Excuse my english, hope you can understand my problem.
I work with Windows 7 Professional 64bit.
Greetings from Berlin
Holger
Do you mean that simply changing folders in Opus causes the File->Open window of another program, that was already running, to change which folder it is displaying?
Opus actually doesn't do that itself. If that's what you mean I think it must be done by one of the tools you've tried (Buzz Folders, Direct Folders, etc.). Are they still installed?
Hello Leo,
you are perfectly right. The Direct Folders tool was running. I stopt and uninstalled it, and the behavior was normal. So I installed it again, because I need this function very urgent. Under Windows XP I had a tool named FlashFolder, which does this job very good. Above every open/save file dialog of nearly all programs there was a appendix which showed the recent folders or the favourites. Would be very fine, if DOpus could enhance its funktionality towards the open/save dialogs (because it replaces the windows explorer, and does it very good). But for now I am happy that I found accidentially this feature of the unintentional teamwork of these two programs. I would like to share this amazing "bug" to the dopus community, or do you have another idea how I can manage this mentioned functionality it with DOpus alone?
Hello Leo,
I found a possible explanation for the behavior in the online help of Direct Folder.

Directory Opus is mentioned on this page too.
Yeah, Direct Folders explicitly supports Opus. The author of it has posted here a few times.
