Remote network disk connect error

I tried to connent a remote disk on directory opus through "\192.168.1.2", but failed, while I can successfully access this network disk through the windows file explorer.
Even I mapped the network disk to local drive X:, directory opus still failed to access.

I suppsed that was because the windows can support multi link on a same network disk, so I tried to remove the saved credentials and reboot, but directory opus still can not access

Can you describe a little more precisely what "failed" means :

  • Did you get some error message pop-up ? If yes, which one ? If not, what happens ?
  • What kind of error (credentials issue ? else ?)
  • Did you try to provide just the IP address or did you also provide the folder share (\\192.168.1.2\share) ? I had some issue where shared folders do not appear in the list when accessing only the IP (or dns name) of the remote server
  • Did you try and search for connection issues in the logs of the remote server ? It would help to understand if at least the request for connection reaches the server end, and if it's rejected, what's the reason.

On my end, no issue to access remote shares on my local network with Opus.

Hi,
I tried to add the folder name, but still failed.
Another thing that I need to say is that, is I try another address, opus can successfully access that network drive.
I suppose there is same information saved in the Opus software that makes me can't access.

Opus itself doesn't store any connection details; it's all handled by Windows.

If you see different results in File Explorer and Opus:

  • Make sure Opus is not running elevated. See Why NOT to run Opus as Administrator under UAC
  • (Similarly, if Opus is being launched under a different user account, it can cause differences. This is very rare, so you'll know if you're doing it.)
  • Try File > Exit Directory Opus (don't just close the window) and then restart it to see if that helps.
  • Antivirus / firewall software may be treating Opus and File Explorer differently.
  • The remote server, if it's not a Windows machine, may have bugs that are triggered when Opus does things which File Explorer doesn't do, e.g. looking for label information or trying to update permissions when copying.
