REname image file with EXIF shooting date information

I would like to be able to rename lots of image files (mostly jpg) with the existing name and the shooting date appended. I know I can do this but is the format of the date tied to the regional settings of my PC? I want the date to be in YY-MM-DD format. when I do it I get DD-MM-DD format which is not useful for sorting (other users do not have the advantages of DOPUS unfortunately). Can I remove the time element from the EXIF information as well to leave only the date?

When renaming using the EXIF time/date fields, the format is currently fixed so you have to do the rename in two passes. (1, get the date/time in the fixed format; then 2, move/remove the numbers around to get the format you want.)

There's already a feature request asking for this to be improved in a later version.
