Rename large html file is very slow

Hi.

I am at a friend's house, he is using DO. I am not but I am willing to try it. also I don't like to install/uninstall programs just to test them.

I found this issue. I downloaded a large file in chunks from rapidshare. The file is named
a.part1.rar.html to a.part5.rar.html

When I click F2 in order to rename the file (take away the .html) to .rar ths thing is this process is very slow. Takes about 20-30 seconds to regain control of DO.

The last file (a.part5.rar.html) is 2MB large and this one takes a couple of seconds to be renamed but the rest are 100MB each.

Maybe is a bug?

If I "return" the .rar to .rar.html is done almost immediately. This happens only renaming large html file (as far as I know)

If I did this in my laptot (vista Home premium as well, 2GB mem) the rename takes nothing as expected.

I found another issue as well. If I transfer a rar file from my machine to his machine takes for example 10 seconds but if the file is the original .rar.html takes at least 3 times (30 seconds). For this I use his DO installation in his machine.

Any idea is appreciatted,

Sounds like an anti-virus scanner is doing something to the files, triggered by the rename. Does the same thing happen if you rename the same files in Explorer?

Yes. It does.

Testing was with using NOD 3.0 antivirus and COMODO firewall in the DO machine.

I just tested disabling NOD and you are right. The rename was almost immediately.

So, apparently I have to move to nod forum for this.

Thanks for the tip
