When I want to move or rename a directory to another location, I often get an error message saying that the action cannot be executed because another process is controlling the directory.
What is causing this and how can I stop these things from happening?
[ul][li]Download Process Explorer.[/li]
[li]Run it as administrator (right-click procexp.exe and select run as administrator).[/li]
[li]In the menu, select Find -> Find Handle or DLL.[/li]
[li]Type the name of whatever it is you're trying to move and see which process(s) are listed.[/li][/ul]
If something like Opus or Explorer are listed, it could be that a shell extension or plug-in is responsible for locking the files. (Or they could really be using them.) What to do next depends on which process is locking the files.
