I have a suggestion if it is not already possible. For example, I have Folder Tree + Dual View. When I open Dopus only My Computer is expanded.
I would like to have the ability to have Favorites also fully expanded. As is now I must manually expand two times to be able to open a favorite.
If favorites would be expanded by default it would be much faster to open my projects folder or something else that I have in favs.
Is this possible now, or could be done in the future?
I'd like to chime in here to add my vote for this 'feature.'
Not having the ability to auto-expand the favorites tree is the last barrier to full adoption of Directory Opus 10 for me. In Windows Explorer, Favorites is the first list, and it is fully expanded. I use Favorite for everything, as it is fast and I never have to navigate through the drives. It is my defacto location to look for what I need. DO inhibits my workflow by making me expand the Favorites tree every time. Minor, but very inconvenient.
It looks like there are others who share this frustration, judging from this thread and the following threads with the same topic:
Could you please consider making this an option sooner than later? It's been difficult but worth it to fully replace Windows Explorer with Directory Opus, but like I said, this is the last barrier keeping me from never looking back.
I'm running DO11 and still can't figure out how to auto expand the favorites tree in every tab. This is also one of my biggest frustrations with the product. I use the favorites extensively and having to expand the tree in every tab is maddening. Any progress on this request?
This worked for me initially. However, here's what's happening: Open DO with one tab, Favorites are expanded. Open another tab, Favorites are expanded. Browse to some folder in Tab 2 and then go back to Tab 1 and Tab 1 is still showing expanded Favorites. But when I go back to Tab 2, Favorites are now compressed and so are the Favorites in Tab 1 when you switch there. Switching back and forth apparently causes the Favorites to compress with no user interaction to the Favorites state.
The branch doesn't collapse here when I do that, no.
If Start Folder Tree at is set to something other than Desktop, it might cause the tree to be re-built when you change folders, depending on which folder you change to. (If it's one outside of what's currently visible, for example.) Can't think of anything else that might affect it, off the top of my head.
Had it set to start at This PC. Set it to start at Desktop, saved default lister. Still doing same thing. Can you try having two tabs open, one at This PC and one at some other folder and then save as default lister with Favorites expanded. Close and reopen and then switch between the tabs. Favorites stays expanded?
Wasn't any of the settings there but I reset all settings and now it's not collapsing. Some other setting was causing that. Took a backup if you'd like to poke around. Many thanks for your help!
This PC auto-expands at start up.
But Libraries I can't get to expand one level (actually, it wold be awesome if that was gone and Docu, DL, Music, Pictures and Videos were immediately under Desktop (Optional of course).
Maybe if, in the tree, you could have a sub-command when right-clicking whicherver drive or folder icon, and have the option to auto expand on startup?
Dead simple, straight forward, and effective....
It will remember which top-level branches were expanded/collapsed, so if you use the option to move Libraries to the top level (instead of under Desktop), you can have the list of libraries always expanded.
(It remembers when the window is saved, which is when windows are closed by default, but may require using Settings > Set as Default Lister if that has been turned off, or re-saving a layout or style if those are being used.)
