Risc of data-loss if manually enable non-buffered I/O?

I'm interested if there is any risc of data-loss if we enable the non-buffered I/O feature again?

Since our machines are really lagging now for large file transfers it would be nice if we can enable this feature again. But certainly we won't do that if we may loose some data under rare conditions.

You should be fine. Some devices have a problem with it, which results in error messages or slow performance. If you didn't see error messages or slow performance before, you can turn it back on.

We just turned it off by default as it was causing error messages on some setups, which made having it on by default cause more problems than it solved.
