"Run as a different user" from shortcut

In windows Explorer I can right click a shortcut while holding the shift ket and the context menu then contains "Run as a different user".

From within an Opus lister, doing the same, only brings up a reduced context menu. as shown below.
In fact the context menu is the same if shift if pressed or not

Have I managed to change a setting in Opus without realising, I know this used to work just fine. This only happens with shortcuts.

In Preferences - Miscellaneous - Windows Integration, is "Hide Windows items on file context menus (shift overrides)" ticked on or off?

Thanks for the reply, I have checked this, and it is currently disabled.

It works OK here, at least on Windows 10.

Can you show a full screenshot so we can see what type of shortcut you're right-clicking, and where it is?

If it's in a zip file, for example, then the menu options will be more limited. The context menu not containing any external tools suggests something like that may be the case.

Hi Leo

It appears on all shortcuts, running windows 11 by the way. I have tried on another machine we have Opus on and it works fine on that machine, also on 11.

Using Opus I get

In exploere I get

A lot of the shortcuts in the start menu are unusual, as they don't point to exe files. Turn on the Target column to see what they point to. I suspect the one you're right-clicking there is one that doesn't point to an exe, so Opus will show a very limited menu for it, with only the things that can be done to the shortcut itself, not to what it points to.

Hi Leo, I used that particular shortcut just as an example. But I can select an exe file, create a shortcut ffrom it anywhere, e.g. on the desktop, and from within opus, I still only get the same context menu. It does not seem to matter what the shortcut is for, I still get the same menu set.

My initial reaction was there was an issue with the file type in Windows, but from within explorer, I do not get this issue, and it seems only to be with shortcuts. Other files, I have no problem with.

This used to work properly, but dont recal changing anything recently to upset it.

A further update, If i quit Opus, the start it as a different user, even with my config imported, so running the same settings, the menu's work as expected, so looks like something in my own windows profile messing it up. Weirdly, nothing else appears to have a problem, only right clicking .lnk shortcuts from within Opus.

Had some time to have another look at this issue. So within Opus I added Word as a handler for the .lnk file type, closed file types, then I removed word as a filetype handler for the .lnk file type, and now right clicking a shortcut brings up the correct context menus within opus.
