I understand a Linux version is not feasible, but I'm hoping maybe I can get my beloved Directory Opus to run under Wine compatibility layer.
However, two big question that I have, before I even try:
Can Directory Opus read Linux file systems, such as ext4 and btrfs?
Should I expect any catastrophic issues if I try?
Also, this is more of a passing thought, and I understand that Wine isn’t an officially supported environment, but if certain features don’t work correctly under Wine, how open would the devs be to alternative implementations, or patches or workarounds where feasible, for small issues?
Trying to understand where the boundary is between "unsupported environment" and issues that might still be worth reporting.
There is already a topic Dopus for linux.
I have tried it: my post about it
Later, @DavidK tried it with every possible sort of WineHQ clone, and the results weren't better.
I would also point out that the devs want nothing to do with Linux, so there is that, as well. However, it would be nice to know of any dependencies it has, at least to play around with it further. It has never asked me to install any thing extra when installing it.
