Hi there
I have an extensive set of entries in the context menu for "All Files and folders" to move files to static predefined locations which I use often. This is shown in the screenshot below and as you can see it is in danger of getting out of hand. Maintaining it has become a meaningful amount of work and I have been thinking about how to improve things.
The use of aliases helps in keeping the menu current so if a folder location changes, I change the alias and no need to update the menu item.
It is nice and quick to move files to frequent locations.
The entries you see obviously represent the locations I mostly use.
There are other locations which I use often enough to want a solution for also but which don’t justify making a static entry. The accelerator letters are a crucial part of the setup.
So for instance to move a highlighted file to Mobile plans requires the following keystrokes:
(RHS click) > M > C > M
I have started using submenus as I am in danger of running out of accelerator letters which make sense to me (M for Mobile etc)
It is a key aspect of DO that I can avoid using the mouse almost all the time. That is important for me. Moving my hand between keyboard and mouse may sound silly but it is redundancy for me which it pleases me to avoid and my DO setup does this for me big time.
Back to those locations that are not statically setup and I want a solution for.
I have tried this internal command which allows me to enter a folder alias in a text popup:
Copy MOVE to {dlgstring|SuffiXXX}
This works.
The problem is that when I use aliai normally (is that the correct plural?) I hit the forward slash key / and this brings up the Go CLI feature in DO. This feature has a very useful FAYT facility so I do not have to remember the full text of any folder alias just the first few letters.
I entered an alias incorrectly with the command above and this dailog box came up which is sort of a solution for me:
I found, as you can see if I navigate to the Folder field at the bottom I have the same FAYT facility bringing up my folder aliai (That word again).
So my ideal solution is that I am able to invoke a context menu item which brings up a popup with a FAYT to select an alias (or I guess a folder location).
The above dialog box seems to be the perfect solution which is there ready made for me.
If I am REALLY picky (which I am) I might want to have the cursor default to the Folder field at the bottom. Currently the cursor defaults to the folder tree above so I have to hit the tab key once. That is not a big deal but I have learned with DO to ask because so often the features are there.
So is there a way of invoking the Select Destination Folder dialog box (shown above) directly as part of my Copy MOVE to internal command structure?
Or is there a different way of achieving the same thing?
With my thanks as always for any suggestions
