This might have been answered but does anyone know how to set opus to auto-start click-drag selection within the filename column or rather any column; without being in power mode?
When I pick power mode and set the left click button to "auto-deselect" this will accomplish my goal. But I don't want to be in power mode since I don't know what other settings this changes. I say this because my default view is "details".
Pictures are attached if the above is confusing.
in this picture click and drag starts from an unused/blank area
in this picture click drag starts from the filename field but it starts to move the file. i want to select multiple files not click and drag the 1 file.
If you want non-standard (for Windows) mouse button/dragging behavior then you want Power mode. That's the whole purpose of it. It gives you the options to do things like that, as you discovered.
Under Power Mode Buttons, setting Left Button to Auto-Deselect gives you a mode where:
Click and drag with the left button will select multiple files (even when dragging over the filename column).
Click and hold with the left button will start renaming a file.
(It looks like we may be changing the 2nd one to only require a short click and wait (like Details mode and File Explorer), and not a hold. It works that way in our long-term development branch. But holding works already in Opus 12.28 and takes the same amount of time. You just have to hold the button down during the time you would be waiting otherwise. How long the hold/wait take depends on the system mouse double-click speed setting, as it is ultimately waiting to see if it was a single or double-click.)
