Hi for some reason im noticing extremely slow transfer rates when copying to my mapped network drive. Im currently running Vista x64 Ultimate and writing to a dedicated Windows Home Server machine in the other room. The files that are usually 4-8GB's in size and it transfers at around 2-10MB/Sec.
It seems to be only related to how DOpus is handling the copying since using Vista explorer, I max out my gigabit at around 75MB/Sec regardless of what file im using.
I tried playing around with the buffer in file operations and it seems to affect the speed but still not up to Vista's speed. If I leave it at 64k, the file im testing with transfers at 2MB/Sec. If I raise it to 9999k, the transfer hits around 33MB/Sec, but if I lower the buffer to 16k, it makes it ultra slow at speed <1MB/Sec. Any ideas how to fix this problem? Is there something I need to configure in DOpus?
Only suggestion I can think of is checking for newer network card drivers. Perhaps the method that Opus copies data with has been sped up in later drivers. Probably not, but I can't think of much else to try if you're already played around with the buffer size.
Does copying similar files from the command prompt give you a similar speed to Opus?
(You could create a button to run an external copy tool, e.g. TeraCopy which might be faster with your particular network/hardware/etc.)
It looks like Teracopy is a nice workaround for my problem, the only issue I have is how would I change the hotkeys like Ctrl+C for copy to use teracopy as well? Is it possible to add a higher limit for the buffer in the next revision of DOpus so I could just raise the buffer to solve this issue rather than 3rd party tools?
